WEST FARLEIGH SPORTS CLUB
Minutes of 94th Annual Club General Meeting
22nd June 2022 - 8pm – Cricket Pavilion
Present: Paul Baines, Jack Martin, Jack Matthews, Terry Baines, Michael Harold, Darren Latter, David Gilliver
Apologies: Netball team, Jo Prideaux, Ian Prideaux, Bill Norman, Richard Ward, Alan Smith
Paul Baines read the minutes from the 2021 AGM. Confirmed as full and accurate by David G and seconded by Terry B
Football.
First team won Division Two and will compete in Division One Central and East. Great achievement, Reserves will likely stay up due to re-organisation of the league. T
Vets team was mothballed due to lack of regular commitment.
Junior’s section seems to be strong thanks for the work of Paul and his managers. They do run almost independently. Their current U13 may not play next season. Try and bring them under the club umbrella, attendance at meetings etc.
Cricket:
A strong season for both sides. Mid-table finishes in Division Three and Seven.
Netball:
Finished 5th out of 7 teams.
Other matters;
Club has bought the cricket ground. Thanks for donors from village, Ian and Jo for making it possible. It was always an aim of the club, and the lease was always restrictive. A good investment. How can we now maximise usage?
Officers nominated “en bloc” and seconded (Terry). Voted and carried unanimously as follows:
President (Stephen Norman)
Chairman (Paul Baines)
Vice-Chairman (Ian Pearce)
Secretary (David Gilliver)
Treasurer (Jo Prideaux)
+ Vice President: Quick (Ringstedt nominated and seconded)
Printed report circulated and available on request.
Annual club subscription
Remain unchanged. Club is in a healthy financial position but the costa are likely to increase due and this needs to be monitored.
Our football match taxes remain comparable with other clubs. Darren outlined an idea to cover football costs upfront with sponsorship and fund-raising. Can we work out the cost needed for this from the accounts? Baino floated an idea to use the same figure to work out a 12 monthly direct debit to cover costs, but this was not popular due to the number of unregular footballers.
Grounds:
The cricket ground ownership will stay under Ian Prideaux. Club has right of benefit for 25 years. Saves club £3k admin. The football ground lease is £500/year and will be reviewed every 5 years, Jack Matthews asked if this should be formalised in writing, but Baino said there was no need as long as the club acts as it has been. This was agreed.
Can we extend the boundary at the football pitch to try and make space for kids teams?
Equipment:
Machinery all in good order.
Ringstedt:
Tour is going ahead. Tricky is organising from our side.
