Reports 2010
1 May
Underriver (h) Friendly Won by 31 runs After heavy overnight rain we had to change tracks just before the game in order for the game to go ahead, and a good decision it was too as it made for a most enjoyable afternoon. We played a 30-over format and we totalled 139 for 8 with Veno Thuray (41) and Richard Allman (28 no) steering us most ably to a decent total. Excellent bowling most notably from Wyne Barnado restricting them to 108 for 7. A good opener for the season. 8 May Cobham (a) League Lost by 2 wkts A game that ebbed and flowed on a horrible day for cricket. Firstly, both sides must be commended for their willingness to play a game on a cold and drizzly day that many would have not, yet produced a very entertaining day throughout. We won the toss and decided to bat, taking to the field in a slight mist of rain, but during the day we only came off for one heavy shower. We totally 205 off our 35 overs with the bulk of the runs going to Matt Brookes, Veno Thuray and Alan Smith. In reply, we had a couple of early successes yet they were always ahead of their 6 an over run rate. Enter stage right one Jamie Webb whose 7-1-25-3 almost won us the day, not being able to stop their No10 smoting a towerring six in the penultimate over. ~pjb 15 May Selsted (h) League Struggled to 179 at tea (P Baines 48 Wyne Barnado 63) but when Selsted came out slogging from the first ball and loosing wicket we quickly looked favourites but one kept on slogging scoring 129 to reach our total with 3 wicket to spare 22 may Boughton and Eastwell (h) Scored only 108 which was never going to be enough, wich they knocked off in just 17 overs for the loss of 3 wickets, all to Colin Fry 29 May Marden (a) League On a day when we were the only game played in the league, praise must go to the two teams for getting 35 overs a piece in on a very rainy day. Marden's score of 240 looked even more impressive. In reply were were limited to 153 for 9.aited |
