6. Net sessions –
Nets to be encouraged in the weeks leading up to the season, Saturday mornings and midweek throughout the season. Winter nets have been organised by TG at Sutton Valence School, beginning in two weeks' time on Wednesdays and Fridays. Attendance to be monitored.
7. Spring cleaning
Good Friday Bank holiday 19th April 10am start.
Also, additional estate and groundwork is being encouraged before each home game.
8. Grounds and equipment
PJB stated that the club has another 'fairway' mower for use for the cricket and the football. The idea is to have one, to be housed in a container at the football pitch, the other similarly at the cricket. They are both a joy to use and thanked IPr and TO for regularly cutting the outfield last season. The flagpole has been lowered ready for painting, and the rotted post from which it came has been replaced with a better one. The pavilion's porch area requires a fresh coat of paint on the ceiling, and TW said he would do this. The kitchen is in need of updating and TG said he would apply for a grant of £1000 to go towards this. A new ceiling, new work surfaces all round, a tea fridge, new sink and base unit, and well as bricking up the back door. AB and BN were appointed the persons in charge to oversee the installation of a cricket net to the south the 3 silver birches, including the resting of the external fence.
A roller to replace the tricycle roller we have had for 30 years to be investigated - PJB
9.1 Fixtures
A full fixture list of league (KCVL) fixtures for both sides and Saturdays throughout the season. Two homes friendlies before and four home friendlies at the end of the season. This year for the first time in over 40 years WFSC has entered in the National Village Cup, to be played on alternate Sundays from the 28th April, culminating in a final at Lords should we win 9 games in a row!
10. Players
All understood that it was the responsibility of all members to find the required number of players to fulfill all the fixtures.
Each player's availability should be given to the captains as soon as possible, so that they can assess any future difficulties. BN was happy to continue the online way that players could submit their availability. The depth and talent of our players was thought to be at least as good as last season, but no-one to be complacent on that score!
11. Match Tax
No change.
£10 for full league games. (not including teas – see below)
£7 for friendly games of 30 overs and above.
£5 for games of less than 30 overs.
(Annual subs are £25, the level of which is set at the Club AGM in May)
However, it was though prudent to ask for £15 from every player on league Saturdays, to simplify things, and those who 'overpay' to be reimbursed at the end of the season.
12. Teas
If required, all players were asked to provide at least one tea per season.
When provided, each home player to contribute £3 for each tea
Visiting friendly sides to contribute £45 towards the tea when provided.
13. AOB
Junior cricket – TO said he would continue to actively look into the way the Club could provide cricket facilities for junior players.
The freehold of the cricket ground to be discussed with our landlord - PJB
Future AGMs - PJB proposed bringing making earlier future AGMs to the 2nd Tuesday of October; this to allow improved forward-planning for the following season. This was agreed.
Everyone thanked Jo and Ian Prideaux for hosting such an enjoyable, unique, cricket AGM, that included warmth, food and wonderful hospitality.
As there was no other business the meeting closed at 21.40
