6. Net sessions –
TW, Started in January, pretty poor this year, averaging only five a week so far, lost three quid a week. BJB not too concerned with small loss of money, in general nets are a good thing and TW will encourage more people to take it up on a Monday night at seven. Some members would prefer a later starting time but as it stands SV school provides the best facilities. On a side note, TW has been asked to be ECB checked, PJB to look into it.
7. Spring cleaning
Good Friday Bank holiday 25th March 10am start.
8. Grounds and equipment
All ok. Roller is mended. PJB wants two sets of gang mowers ideally in the future. Cricket net next to grounds on Stephen Norman’s land. Ground can be used on Sundays finally. Fence is ok. Thatch is ok. Kitchen may get upgraded with grant from Waitrose, ceiling is not great though, PJB will know about waitrose in 4 weeks or so. We’d prefer that the sheep don’t use the cricket grounds in spring. TAB will use old footballer line marker for cricket. As discussed on 26th Jan 2016 we will look into getting him a new one for football (£275-£400)
9.1 Fixtures
Fixtures are good, all Saturday’s are booked. Perfect.
10. Players
MB, hopes to have same side as last year. No one has said no to playing this year. Hasn’t been able to pinch any other players yet from elsewhere. Karim to ask the youngsters from football to play twenty twenty Sunday matches. Rotating players into Saturday squad who show commitment.
Ideas to recruit more players: Flyers around the village? Thom’s Waitrose promotional day. All to be discussed further.
11. Match Tax
Match tax. £10, £5, + £3 for tea. Tony to keep collecting.
12. Teas
The Captains and Vice captains will organise teas, players can come forward to offer to make teas, and in weeks where we cannot find someone to make teas we will ask the GI, one week prior notice will be given to the pub. £40 will be charged for friendly matches.
13. AOB
13.1 twenty twenty cricket
No Saturday twenty twenty league this year. Kent have organised some Sunday and weekday twenty twentys. We are keen, especially for footballers to join in. We are trying to use grounds as much as possible, not just 12 times like last year.
13.2 Saturday and Sunday teams
Discussed if we wanted two Saturday sides or just continue with the one Saturday team and the occasional Sunday side. Most want just one Saturday team and a second team for more causal Sunday games. Main aim is to accommodate new players on Sunday for next years Saturday’s team. Rethink it next year.
13.3 Cricket balls
TW has brought to our attention that the club is now required to provide a new ball for every innings played, so we will look into ordering more balls than last year.
As there was no other business the meeting closed at 21.00
