3. Minutes of the 87th AGM 19th May 2016 read by Chairman
4. Matters Arising –
Yearbooks were handed out to those present, but a corrected re-print will be distributed to the full club and vps once complete.
Gold Medals for Life members were handed out to Jack Martin, Terry Baines, Ian Payne and Paul Baines.
5. Chairman’s Report
The Club has had a successful season, continuing off of last season’s successes.
The First XI has grown in stature and had a strong league campaign, narrowly missing out on promotion to DIV 1 in the Kent league. The season can yet be a success as they have two cup finals in the next ten eight days.
The Reserve team has been strongly supported by the players and capped off the season with another TWCC cup victory.
The junior section is stronger than ever thanks to the hard work of dedicated volunteers.
The Veterans had a good year, many thanks to all the work from John Gladwin who has now stood down as Manager.
The Cricket XI continued to progress and stayed in Div 6
The Cricket 2nd XI had a poor T20 campaign, but continue to play many friendly fixtures.
The Ringstedt tour was the largest on record and socialising within the club is very strong.
6. Treasurer’s report
The treasurer outlined a few key numbers from his report. I have outlined the main contributors to both income and expenses.
Income
Positives
The rise in collected subs for Junior Football has been a huge success this season.
Christmas Draw income was greater, but was effectively cancelled out by a greater expenditure.
Golf Day (over the last two seasons) has been a happy new “risk-free” money raiser.
Quiz night
Negatives
Fireworks night. The potential largest earner for the club every year, it was not nearly as successful as last year due to a drop in sales and slightly higher costs. We’ll mostly blame the rain.
Slight drop off in VP donations, the club will review the list of VPs.
Expenses
A large part of our increased expenditure this season was money spent on grounds and maintenance. Profit from last season was spent on the Ride on mower, which will improve the playing surfaces at both grounds. The scarifier, and minor repairs to the “Dandelion time” tractor, have also been new expenditures which will help improve grass cover on both pitches.
Insurance is high and we will look at alternative policies.
Conclusion
The club still has a healthy bank balance, which increased again despite large equipment purchases and a low earning fireworks night. However, Sporting costs were in the negative and at best would break even. The Club relies on fund raisers (and sponsorship to a lesser extent) for financial support and should look to increase its efforts in these directions.
(Mentioned at the end that the second cricket XI and beer fridge at the cricket pavilion can contribute positively to club finances in upcoming years.)
The proposal for the Yearly subscription to remain at £25 was voted for and carried unanimously.
